Water and recycling are both very important aspects to life. Water is vital to all life forms, and it is a common substance that is found on Earth. Water covers about seventy percent of the planet’s surface, which is mainly large bodies of water such as oceans and lakes. Clean and fresh drinking water is vital for humans and animals to be able to survive. Over the last few years, safe drinking water has spread out over more areas within the world. However, if something major is not done than by the year 2025, we could be facing a huge water shortage.

To put it in perspective, look at it this way. Just one household in the United States uses an average of 127,000 gallons of water a year. However, if the house switched to fixtures that were low flow, they could save about forty thousand gallons of water in a year as well as thirty percent on their overall water bill. If every household in the United States did this, we would save 5.4 billion gallons of water a day, which adds up to $11.3 million dollars.

A situation such as this is known as a water crisis, and this is because water plays so many vital roles in life, like diluting chemicals in the industrial and medical worlds. Then, there is agriculture, which relies on more than seventy percent of the supply of fresh water to create and provide fresh foods.

What is Recycling Water?

Recycling water is also known as water reclamation or water reusing. It is where water that is recycled is used for toilet flushing, industrial processes, agricultural irrigation and a process known as groundwater replenishment or groundwater recharge. These terms and processes tend to go hand in hand because they are so important to each other.

How Recycling Water is Beneficial?

Recycling water is beneficial to the environment in a lot of ways, plus it is also another source of water in which is used for a variety of purposes. The main benefits are:

  • Recycling water reduces and prevents pollution by leaving the damaging pollutants at the treatment plant
  • Recycled wastewater lowers the discharge of effluents, which in turn damages and pollutes the ecosystems of sensitive bodies of water
  • Recycled water is great for use in establishing new wetlands or to improve the lives of ones that are already in existence
  • The process of water recycling is also known for decreasing the extraction of water from other sources that may be slowly disappearing ; this can stop being a viable source for endangered wildlife and habitats that are considered to be valuable

Recycling water is an effective and safe way to provide water that is non-potable for a wide range of uses in the industrial world, the agricultural world and in home use.
