Nike uses a technology known as DryColor to dye fabric into desired colors without using water and also conserving energy. It usually takes about 30 liters of water to dye a T-shirt going by the usual method, and this in turn causes water pollution. But, with the use of the new technology, water is conserved and energy is saved. Decreasing energy used in turn reduces greenhouse gas emissions, thereby helping the world in achieving climate stability. Nike, through the DryColor technology, is working to design products that require less water to produce.
While delivering quality goods, Nike also ensures that its products are made so that workers and the environment are not harmed. This involves the elimination of hazardous chemicals and raw materials in the production process. Nike, in a bid to ensure that this is strictly adhered to, compiled a list of chemicals and materials that should not be found in any of their finished goods. The company encourages green chemistry, which is the use of better alternatives for manufacture of products.
